Small Colleges: Where Cheering and Chem Homework Go Together

So it happened 92 years ago? It still counts!

Some traditions never die, and at my Danville, Ky., alma mater, Centre College, we have some cool ones. We bring a dead Supreme Court Justice to games; we run naked around a statue after big wins; and after nearly a century, we still honor “C6-H0,” like on today’s college basketball  “Gameday” at University of Kentucky – a sign denoting Centre 6, Harvard 0, our 1921 defeat of then-national football champions, and voted AP’s “biggest sports upset of first half of the 20th century.”

Our men’s and women’s hoops teams are both currently regular season Southern Athletic Association champions–you don’t have to be a big school to make a big statement (see my PickFactor.com blog post, “Rivalry Week Stirs Envy, Honor in D-III Grad”.

Thanks to college BFF Mary Person for catching this one (and for introducing me to Skyline Chili).
